#PitchWars Bio
Hello there!I'm Meredith, and I've just entered #PitchWars, an amazing online writing contest. (If you haven't heard of it, please visit Brenda Drake's website - she is the wizard who runs it. Seriously I think she is a wizard...) Also, big thank you to Christoper Keelty, who organized the PitchWars Contestant Blog Hop.Here are some fun facts about me, and my manuscript. (I write Adult Historical Fiction.)-I'm a PhD student at the University of St Andrews. My dissertation focuses on a never-before-studied sculptor in 17th-century (aka Baroque) Venice. So you could say, I REALLY enjoy reading and writing. I'm a perfectionist, and I'm used to getting my work critiqued - it's an everyday occurrence for a PhD student. So I'm really looking for in-depth, honest feedback on my novel. I want to make it the best it can be!-My novel is set in 17th-century Scotland during the Civil Wars, and is based on a true story and real people, although I've thrown in some fictional characters and alternate 'what-if' scenarios. There's also lots of intrigue, swordplay, betrayal, banter, sibling rivalry (because I'm a middle child), and a fair amount of slow-burning romance, just to spice it up a bit.-I've always been a history buff and bookworm. I originally wanted to be an Egyptologist/Archaeologist, but I was lousy at chemistry.-I have a fairly dark sense of humor. I'm all about the irony. Love me some satire. Give me your Simpsons (well ok, Seasons 2-10-ish), your Shakespeare (MacBeth is my jam), and your atmospheric historical fiction/historical fantasy novels with a wry voice. I also love The West Wing, because, The West Wing. And Supernatural. Oh and Parks & Rec.-Some of my favorite writers are: Victoria Schwab, Michelle Lovric, Neal Stephenson, Kate Mosse, Bernard Cornwell, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Diana Gabaldon, and I know there are more that I have yet to discover in my ever-growing TBR pile.-I love lists. (And parenthetical asides.)-I'm on the tweety bird @mamcrosbie, and I've made a Pinterest page for my novel, which you can see here. I'm also on Tumblr, though not as often.-Thanks for making it to the end. Here is a gif, because I guess that's also what we do in #PitchWars.~Mhttp://christopherkeelty.com/pitchwars-2015-pimpmybio-contestant-blog-hop/#comment-47684
